A nearly deserted beach in Argentina. Three teenagers caught in a love triangle. A professional witch. A missing boy. The perfect ingredients for a story that blends mystery, romance, and a breathtaking setting. An immersive novel written by one of the most renowned authors in contemporary young adult literature.
A lonely teenager walks along the shoreline when, suddenly, he falls to his knees, stunned by a pair of striking green eyes emerging from the waves. The mermaid without a tail walks toward him slowly, as if casting a spell. Sand blows into his face, he gets some in his eye, and starts laughing…
That’s how Gustavo and Franco, two brothers aged 16 and 15, meet Gabriela—the girl about to steal both their hearts.
The brothers are spending the summer at a beach house in Costa de Boscosa, a chilly, almost deserted beach in Argentina. With time to spare, they decide to shoot a mystery film.
Gabriela lives in a caravan in the woods near the beach with her aunt Sara, a professional “witch” who makes a living reading tarot cards and fortune-telling at fairs along the coast.
After that first encounter, the trio becomes inseparable. Gabriela brings brilliant ideas to the movie project and captivates both brothers, but it’s Franco, the younger one, whom she ultimately chooses. Yet Gabriela hides a troubling past linked to her mother, Ethel.
Gustavo starts noticing odd behavior from Gabriela, but sets it aside—until two boys from a nearby camp suddenly vanish. The friends begin searching for clues, as the police believe they have a lead pointing to Aunt Sara—and by extension, Gabriela.
Although Sara clears her name and becomes crucial in the search for the missing boys, something doesn’t quite add up in Gabriela’s story. Why does she seem to be at the center of these disappearances?
An unresolved past will catch up with them all, as a cult long thought defunct holds the key to their questions.

Critical Acclaim:
“A suspense novel that hides several love stories: the fraternal love between Ethel and Sara, between Franco and Gustavo, the filial love between Gabriela and Ethel, and teenage romance. Jealousy, betrayal.” —Mirta Rodríguez
“The story blends cinematic language, the intimate tone of a diary, and the everyday rhythm of conversation—perhaps even deeper in its confidences. The beach, the mountains, the city’s classic bar… And within the union of these elements unfolds—seemingly calculated in advance—another mix: one that condenses love, fear, betrayal, and a desperate search, the yearning to piece life’s fragments together.” —Julianas Editoras (literary blog)
