Horacio Kustos is a traveler who arrives late in the history of exploration. He would have been happy to have been born centuries ago, reaching some of the great territories that, at that time, were about to be discovered. He would have liked to be like Christopher Columbus, Vasco de Gama, or Neil Armstrong, but he has to be content with being born in the 21st century, when everything is mapped and you can see anything online.
Kustos doesn’t give up his desire for adventure and sets himself the goal of finding new lands, towns, and events that are not yet within the realm of possibility. So he sets out to travel to “other” places, places that, even if they are on Earth, seem impossible. In them, Kustos finds a new dimension of events and incredible characters, becoming involved in all kinds of adventures.

No one knows where he gets the money for his expeditions, or who receives the detailed reports on his findings, delivered periodically to surprising sites. When other people join his adventures, the effects on them can be unpredictable. Even the effects on Kustos himself are unimaginable, to the point of putting his own sanity at risk and in doubt.

Chimal’s works have received several awards: he was twice awarded the San Luis Potosí National Short Story Award and the Colima Narrative Award, the “Sizigias” Narrative Award, the State of Mexico Literature Award, the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award, besides being a finalist for the Romulo Gallegos Award, and selected for the prestigious White Ravens.
