Mónica Rodríguez

Mónica Rodríguez was born in northern Spain and studied Physics. In 1993, she moved to Madrid to pursue a master’s degree in Nuclear Energy and worked for CIEMAT (Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Investigation) until 2009, when she took a leave of absence to devote herself fully to writing. Mónica Rodríguez has published more than 60 works including children’s and young adult literature, comics, illustrated biographies and illustrated albums.

 

RELEVANT INFORMATION

Mónica Rodríguez is one of the most awarded authors in children’s and young adult literature in the Spanish-speaking world. She has been awarded with the Cervantes Chico Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature for “being a strong presence in the literary scene amongst young readers, for her extraordinary literary quality and her narrative power”.

Apart from this, Mónica Rodríguez has received the Edebé Children’s Literature Award for her novel King (Rey), the Kiriko Award for Best Young Adult Novel, the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award, the Anaya Award, the Ala Delta Award, the Málaga City Children’s Literature Award, the White Ravens Award (on 4 occasions), the Gran Angular Award and the Alandar Award. She was also a finalist for the Barco de Vapor Award on numerous occasions. Furthermore, many of her novels were chosen amongst the best children’s and young adult books by the newspaper Babelia.
