Spanish writer Rafael González Balanzá was born in Alicante in 1969, although he has lived in Murcia since 1986.

In his youth, he received some literary prizes, but it cost him a lot to start as an author of novels. Manuel Moyano’s trust in him, gave him wings to publish some short stories in Trivial Crimes in 2007 and then his first novel, Los asesinos lentos. This novel was made with the prestigious Café Gijón prize in 2009, and put him behind the wake of the thriller genre, which he has continued to cultivate in The Hungry Night and Recado de un muerto.

Balanzá was the founder of the late literary magazine El Kraken in 2002.
