Ramón J. Sender (1901–1982) was a Spanish writer and journalist, regarded as one of the most significant figures in 20th-century Spanish-language narrative fiction.

He took part in the Spanish Civil War on the Republican side and, after the conflict, went into exile in the United States, where he worked as a professor of Spanish and Latin American literature at various universities.

A prolific author, he published more than seventy books, including novels, short stories, essays, and plays. In 1935, he was awarded the National Prize for Literature for Mr. Witt in the Canton, and in 1969 he received the Planeta Prize. His celebrated novel cycle Crónica del Alba was adapted for both film and television.
