Juan Villoro

Scenic Rights is the audiovisual co-agency of Juan Villoro.

He is a playwright, a novelist, a storyteller, an essay writer and a journalist. He has been a profesor at the UNAM and a visiting profesor at Yale, Princeton and Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona, as well as in the Fundación Nuevo Periodismo, created by Gabriel García Márquez.

From 1995 to 1998 he directed La Jornada Semanal, a supplement of the newspaper La Jornada.

 

RELEVANT INFORMATION

It is said that when nobody even thought about asking if it was possible to write the next Great Mexican Novel, Villoro put it on the table.

Currently, two of his works are in development: Arrecife and El libro salvaje.

Among other recognitions, he has received the Iberoamerican Awards José Donoso and Manuel Rojas, both awarded in Chile; in Spain, the Herralde Award and the Premio LIBER for the most distinguished Latin American writer; in Argentina, the ACE Award; and in Cuba, the José María Arguedas Award. His journalism has been recognized with the Rey de España and Ciudad de Barcelona Awards. He was also the winner of the Manuel Vázquez Montalbán International Award. 

His novels have sold more than one million copies, and they have been translated into a dozen languages.
