Claudia Piñeiro is an Argentine writer, television screenwriter, and playwright, widely recognized as one of the most acclaimed voices in contemporary Latin American literature. She holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Buenos Aires and worked as an accountant for ten years before dedicating herself fully to writing.

The author of more than a dozen novels and several plays, Piñeiro is known as “The Lady of Argentine Crime Fiction” and has become the most translated Argentine writer after Borges and Cortázar. She is also one of the most frequently adapted Spanish-language authors for film and television. Her books have been translated into more than a dozen languages.

Among her many literary honors are the Clarín Prize, the Latin American Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, the Pléyade Prize, the ACE Award, the LiBeraturpreis, the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize, and the Pepe Carvalho Prize. She was also a finalist for the Planeta Argentina Prize and the La Sonrisa Vertical Prize, and was selected for the Edebé Publishing Competition.

Many of her works are currently being adapted for the screen, and several have already been released. Notable among them are The Curses, Thursday’s Widows, and Elena Knows, all of which premiered on Netflix.

In addition, Piñeiro has built a solid career as a screenwriter, taking part in high-profile television projects such as the Netflix series The Kingdom.
